What a BLAST!! Jamie Cantu is not only a fishing guide but a guy who loves what he does. Misty and I decided to go with Jamie rather than a large charter boat, best decision we made. Capt. Cantu was waiting on us and met us in the parking lot ready to roll. 4 cups of coffee and we were fishing within 15 minutes of leaving the dock and had our 1st 24" trout 2 minutes later. This guy knows where the fish are at, he had the other boats cleaning up our scraps. We tagged out within 45 minutes and where on to the big boys. despite a couple of user errors (us) we let some big fish go but then Misty hit a home run with her big red and the game was on. Capt. Cantu is extremely patient and very involved from the time we arrived until our fish were cleaned and we were on our way. Hands down that was the best fishing trip we had ever been on. The level of excitement Capt. Cantu brings to the trip makes it that much better. Were already planning our next trip and can't wait to get back out there. Capt. Cantu famous words we are still laughing about" Come on, you big ol', big ol' fish!! For some reason every time he yelled it the fight was on. If you go anywhere else to save 50-100 bucks shame on you, you get what you pay for, first hand we saw the other boats out there watching us! Great times and thanks Jamie we look forward to seeing you soon.

On Saturday, August 28, 2010, at 6:15 AM, me, and Sandra, Debbie and Jimmy met Captain Jaime at the Galveston Yacht Basin. He explained what type of fish we were going after and he explained all the safety rules of his beautiful 25' boat.

We left the yacht basin at 6:30 and drove a short distance near the Pelican Island Bridge. Captain Jaime prepared all of our rod and reels and cast for the two females. Within a few minutes we were all hooked up with speckled trout. We caught specs up to 5 lbs, sand trout, one flounder and one redfish. We caught a total of 38 keeper fish with just as many under sized that we threw back. We stayed anchored there for approximately three hours.

We pulled anchor and headed to a spot near Sea Wolf Park. Captain Jamie rigged us up with much heavier rods and tackle. He warned us to hold on to our rods as we should hook up some bull reds, big drum and maybe some black tip sharks. Our lines were barely in the water when I caught a bull red fish that was at least 40 lbs. and 3' long. After taking pictures to show my friends we released the big red. Sandra, Debbie and Jimmy each caught a black tip shark. We stayed there only one hour. We had several big hits but only landed one more shark.

We were back at the yacht basin by noon.

We had a great trip and Captain Jamie was a terrific guide.

I highly recommend Cantu Fishing Charters to any one who wants to catch fish and even learn some new tricks.

Capt. Jaime took us out yesterday to catch Bull Red’s, slots, trout and whatever we might come across. This was the first time I had ever met the captain, but he was as friendly as if we had know each other for the past number of years rather than the last couple of minutes. As he said..”I will put you on the fish, but it is up to you to catch them..!” Well to say the least he put us on them. We limited out on Bull Red’s almost immediately. The seas were rough, but he put us on a smooth location along the jetties and we proceeded to catch in excess of 50 fish! The captain hardly had time to look around before he was baiting another hook. His accommodating spirit, outgoing personality and knowledge of the bay made this experience one that we will come back MANY times in the future. The weather was fantastic, the company was tremendous and the fishing was out of this world…thanks Capt. Jaime!

Ready to do it again!!!!!!

Jaime, I just wanted to say thanks for the fantastic fishing trip to the North jetty this past Saturday afternoon. Tom and Will and I had more fun catching fish than I could have ever imagined. I know that every fishing trip can not be as productive, but I would definitely call ours a success. I think you counted 91 fish in the cooler and granted they were not the biggest fish out there, our action was almost nonstop the whole time we were fishing. Speckled trout, Sand trout, Whiting, Black tip shark, and Spanish mackerel were all in the Ice box. Thanks for your knowledge about where to find the fish and thanks for the wonder full afternoon on the bay.

I tried to post this on the testimonials tab on your website but was unable to do so. Please post it there and use me as a referral. It was a great time, lots of fun, and we will be back. BTW, is anything open for tomorrow???
